A 14-year-old girl was stabbed on a train in Manhattan on Sunday after she got into a fight with two other girls, police said.

The incident took place on a southbound no.1 train near the 191st station in Washington Heights at around 4 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said.

The victim was stabbed in the chest. A 13-year-old boy who was with the victim was also wounded but not stabbed, according to police.

The girl was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital for treatment, where she remains in stable condition.

No arrests have been made as of Monday. Police are still searching for the two teenage girls. It is believed that all three teens know each other from before the stabbing.

Walter R. Lewis III, an MTA cleaning crew member, told The New York Post the girl was holding her side when she got off the train.

“So evidently she was holding her side the whole time because it happened on the train and there was no blood trail,” the 70-year-old said.

“She said she had a history with the girl, whoever it was, that stabbed her,” Lewis added.

The stabbing is the latest violent incident to take place in New York City’s subway system, where crime has increased by almost 47%.

Last weekend, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced new plans to deal with the surge in crimes in the Big Apple’s transit system by adding additional police and surveillance cameras.

"My number one priority as Governor is keeping New Yorkers safe in the streets, in their homes, in their schools, and on the subway, and we will do whatever it takes to make our subways safer for riders," Governor Hochul said.
