A man was stabbed to death in broad daylight in the middle of a crosswalk in New York City, as bystanders captured the bloody brawl on video.
At around 8:15 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of West 30th Street and Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan, two men began arguing with each other and throwing punches, according to a statement by the New York Police Department and a video of the incident.
As the fight goes on, pedestrians continue to walk by—some without so much as glancing at the fight. Eventually, the larger man wields a knife. At least one bystander, a nurse dressed in medical scrubs, tried to intervene and talked to the men.
“Don’t fight,” the woman said, according to a witness who works at a nearby laundry.
Not soon after, one of the two men is seen laying on the crosswalk bleeding to death. He had been stabbed in the middle of his chest, according to witnesses.
Police, who were investigating a separate incident nearby, responded to the scene and tried to save the 36-year-old man’s life. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he died. His name has not yet been disclosed.

It is unclear what sparked the fight and subsequent murder.
The man wielding the knife, identified later as Nisean Graves, was arrested at gunpoint by the police and charged with Murder, NYPD said.
Graves, a 34-year-old homeless man, had previously attacked an individual in 2021 with a knife in lower manhattan. The victim was stabbed in both arms. He spent a year in jail after copping to one count of third-degree assault, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Additionally, Graves is registered as a Level 3 sex offender who served nine years in prison for attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl in Mount Vernon.
