Venezuelan citizens gathered in different states across the South American country this weekend to support opposition leader María Corina Machado as she continues her tour for liberty.
The founder of the Vente Venezuela party arrived this Saturday in Puerto Píritu, Anzoátegui state, where a crowd was waiting for her with banners and flags in hand.
“Socialism will never return to Venezuela again (…) On July 28, everyone will vote for Edmundo, the next president of Venezuela,” said Machado, who climbed onto the roof of her vehicle to speak to her countrymen.
In her brief statements, the Maduro opponent highlighted the strength and organization of the thousands of citizens who have joined the candidacy of her standard bearer, Edmundo González Urrutia.
“We have the strength, we have the organization, we have the reason, and what moves us is the deep love for Venezuela, for freedom and for our children,” she exclaimed.
She also expressed her unwavering conviction that the opposition was headed toward a victory on July 28.

“We are going to win and we are going to collect,” Machado emphasized, while the attendees chanted the word “freedom.”
At the same time that Machado continues visiting the different states, the Nicolás Maduro regime tries to sabotage the gatherings.
In recent days the Maduro regime has detained 11 people for providing support to the opposition leader.
Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro has also taken measures against members and supporters of Vente Venezuela, such as the arrest of the party's national coordinator, Henry Alviárez, the political secretary, Dignora Hernández, and Emil Brandt, a regional campaign command chief.
In addition, several food establishments and hotels where María Corina Machado have been forcibly shut down by the regime. Still, many small business owners have asked opposition political leaders to visit them, regardless of the consequences.
“The fear here is over,” Machado has expressed about the response of citizens to the decisions of the National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service (SENIAT), an agency in favor of the regime that has been in charge of closing businesses with the excuse of “not having the papers in order.”
