Caracas woke up this Thursday in the custody of more than 1,000 officials from the security forces of the Nicolás Maduro regime. In addition, Chavismo decided to place platforms at opposition gathering points to prevent them from calling.

During the early morning hours, the ruling party installed platforms in several points, including Plaza Altamira and Élice Street, in the Chacao municipality, east of Caracas, and Francisco de Miranda Avenue, at the height of the Great Wall of Petare.

During this past weekend, especially in Caracas, the Maduro dictatorship ordered a military and police deployment in the main streets and avenues to prevent demonstrations against Chavismo.

Human rights organizations expressed their concern about the presence of security forces such as the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) and the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (SEBIN), both indicated in international reports for committing serious human rights violations.

Furthermore, in a meeting of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) - a Chavista paramilitary organization - with the groups, the regime asked them to defend Caracas before, during and after the inauguration, scheduled for this Friday, January 10.

Last Sunday the opposition called for a demonstration in Venezuela and other parts of the world for this Thursday, just one day before the presidential inauguration in the South American country.

In the video of the call, opposition leader María Corina Machado stated that “that day will be recorded in history as the day Venezuela said: Enough!”

“Freedom is not begged, it is fought and conquered, it is won. (...) Here no one is left behind. Let's leave full of confidence. Paralyzed we do not achieve change. Maduro is not going to leave alone. We must make him leave with the strength of a people that never gives up (...). Go out, shout, fight, it is time to stand firm and make them understand that they have come this far, that this is over,” Machado declared.
