An eight-year-old boy became the sixth death after Darrell Brooks Jr. drove his vehicle into a crowd of people participating in a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin on Sunday.

Jackson Sparks died on Monday after being in intensive care since Sunday night, according to an update from his family on his GoFundMe page.

Jackson’s 12-year-old brother Tucker was also seriously injured but is recovering from his injuries.

Brooks Jr., 39, appeared in court on Tuesday after killing six people and injuring 48 others. He faces five counts of intentional homicide, according to court documents. Jackson’s death will most likely add another charge.

Prosecutors requested $5 million cash bond for Brooks Jr., citing his extensive criminal history and the seriousness of the recent charges.

Brooks Jr. Has a long criminal history that spans over decades. He had been arrested for drug use and domestic abuse, and two of these cases are still open. One case, earlier this month, involved the use of a vehicle to carry out an assault, but he was released on November 16 after paying the $1,000 bail.

This Monday, Police Chief Dan Thompson said there is no evidence that the hit-and-run was a terrorist attack or that Brooks Jr. knew a particular person at the parade. “Brooks acted alone,” said Thompson.
