Spanish singer Miguel Bose said on Monday that he had been attacked and robbed by ten armed men who broke into his Mexico City house, where he was staying with his two children.

The pop star was in his high-security luxury house in the neighborhood of Alvaro Obregon in Mexico City when a group of around ten armed men entered the premises at around 8 p.m. on Friday, August 18, Bose posted on an Instagram post

The assailants entered his house and tied him, his two 12-year-old sons, and his household staff, including two bodyguards and a domestic worker. They were held for more than two hours while the men searched the house. The armed men took jewelry, cash, and a blue Chevrolet Suburban, which was found about 20 kilometers from Bose’s house.

“They robbed us, and they had me, my sons, and the house staff tied up for more than two hours,” the 67-year-old singer wrote in his account of the incident he called “very studied and meticulous.”

“It was all very tense, tricky, and unpleasant,” he said, but “we are all fine. My children behaved like two brave men. Admirable.”

The Mexico City Attorney General’s office said in a statement that it was investigating the incident. Police agents arrived at the crime scene in the gated community, but were not allowed to enter because no one had filed a crime report.

“Neither the victim and/or his legal representative, nor the administration of the residential complex where the events occurred have appeared before this Prosecutor’s Office to denounce the crime,” the agency said.

Bose, who moved from Panama to Mexico in 2018, told his fans that he does not plan to leave Mexico, despite his horrifying experience.

"And to those who speculate so much that after what happened I am going to leave Mexico, I am sorry to disappoint you. Here I am and here I will stay to face whatever it takes, in the most hospitable country on the planet,” he said.
