Miami-based Cuban actress Susana Perez revealed on the "La Familia Perez" talk show, hosted by her son Roberto San Martin, that the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro tried to have a romantic encounter with her.

Pérez, an opponent of the Castro regime, was very famous on the island for her stellar acting in soap operas. At the time, she was one of the most beautiful women on state television, hence the interest of the former Cuban president.

The actress revealed that at one time she received an invitation through a third party to have an intimate date with Castro on a yacht.

“He tried to have something with me, but I didn't want to. I told him no because he did everything through someone else... and I like men to call me directly," explained the actress.

Susana added that Fidel Castro wanted to invite her to a reception for a Latin American Film Festival, although she did not specify the year. The actress says that she does not care, at this point, whether people believe her or not. However, she claims that everything she said was true. She also clarified that she never had a relationship with the very well-known Cuban conductor Rafael Serrano.

"Never in my life has that mustache brushed my lips," she said with a laugh in reference to the broadcaster Serrano. Her son, San Martín, confirmed that the story about Castro was not a joke but a real anecdote that was previously known only within the family.

Susana Perez is currently acting in the play "Huevos Rotos" with Alberto Pujol and Carlos Acosta-Milian at the Micro Theater in Miami. For years the actress has been openly opposed to the Cuban dictatorship. She was also the representative of the Miami Latino community and its campaign in favor of the reelection of Republican Donald Trump.
