Husband says mom of two who fell to her death from roof of luxury NYC building was his "soulmate"

Different stories are surfacing about why a 35-year-old Manhattanite plunged to her death from a luxury apartment building on Thursday night. 

 The victim, Alina Page, may have been arguing with her spouse about her drinking habits, according to a Sunday report published by The New York Post, an allegation the husband adamantly denies. 

The Post only attributed the development to “law enforcement sources,” and conducted a series of interviews with other tenants in the building.  

 The husband, Brian Page however, said “he wasn’t even home,” adding that he was devastated over the tragedy.

 “She was the love of my life, my soulmate,” the heartbroken husband told The Post. “I am devastated.”

 The victim’s injuries were consistent with a fall that police say occurred about 6:45 p.m. on the corner of York Avenue and East 92nd Street on the Upper East side not far from FDR Drive.

 Page initially survived the fall and was taken to the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell in critical condition, but later died from injuries.

The couple lived in the posh tower, known as “The Brittany” which was known for providing luxury services to its residents. 

Glenwood Management, the company which leases out units in the building boasts that it has an indoor swimming pool, a children’s playroom and a private shuttle to transport residents to the NYC subway every 30 minutes. 

The beautiful brick tower is located near Gracie Mansion and according to online report StreetEasy.com, “known for its “incredible, panoramic water views” of the East and Harlem rivers.

A two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit can cost around $7,500, according to the real estate website.

The brown-haired beauty was reportedly from Russia and enjoyed sharing photos of her husband and children on Facebook. 

The couple, who married young, were only 11 days away from their 16th wedding anniversary.

The New York Police Department has not officially classified the woman’s death as a suicide, but the Post quoted residents who said the building has many safety measures to prevent accidental falls. 

“The railing is really tall … I would say at least 4 feet,” one renter said about the roof in an interview with the NYC newspaper. 

“[The windows] don’t open. They crack. All of them have child safety. I have small cats so they wouldn’t be able to fit through. So she wouldn’t. I’m just glad I didn’t see it. It’s a very family-friendly building.”

The suicide rate in NYC has remained consistent at about half the national rate, according to the city government website, NYC.gov. 

“Among those with suicidal ideation, 14.1% attempted suicide in the past 12 months. Over the last decade, the overall rate of suicide has remained flat in NYC and is about half of the national rate, according to a Health Department report released last year looking at suicide death trends from 2010 to 2019, the city government website reports.
