CPR was administered to Hamlin, who was on the field for around 16 minutes after he collapsed. He was eventually taken off the field, placed in an ambulance, and given oxygen, according to a CNN broadcast.
On Tuesday, the Bills announced that Hamlin spent the night in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. By Tuesday evening, Hamlin’s vitals were “back to normal” and was put to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat.
"We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support we have received thus far," the team said.
Hamlin’s family also thanked the public for their support during these rough times in a statement released on Monday morning.
"On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country," the statement said.
After the incident, the game was postponed. However, the NFL said that the game will not be resumed this week and no decision has been made to play the remainder of the game at a later date, reported ESPN.
