The Miami Dolphins won their fifth straight game straight on Sunday by defeating the New York Giants 20-9, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

This puts the Dolphins record at 6 wins and 7 losses for the season, a vast improvement over the 1-7 start they got off to.

“I’m glad we won, but I think there’s a lot of things that we left out there on the field, a lot of plays that we wish we’d have back,” said Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami quarterback.

Tagovailoa threw two short passes for touchdowns, one to Mack Hollins and another to Isaiah Ford. He completed 30 of 41 passes for 244 yards total.

The Dolphins’ rookies also showed up big on Sunday. On offense, Jaylen Waddle contributed nine catches for 90 yards, and Jaelan Phillips had two more sacks, helping him to a franchise record for most sacks in a rookie season.

Mike Glennon started at quarterback for the Giants, stepping in for Daniel Jones who is inactive because of a neck injury from his game last week against the Philadelphia Eagles. Glennon completed 23 of 44 passes for 187 yards.

Glennon finished the game, but the team announced he had been diagnosed with a concussion afterwards. This puts the Giants in a tight spot against the Los Angeles Chargers next week if neither Jones or Glennon are cleared to play by then.

The win on Sunday keeps the Dolphins in the playoff picture with the other teams in the AFC hovering right around the .500 mark.

Miami dominated Carolina last week, 33-10, holding the Panthers below 200 yards and forcing three turnovers with a strong showing on defense.
