Renowned professional boxer and weightlifter Stefanie Cohen Magarici, popularly known as Stefi Cohen, has been arrested in Miami on serious charges of cyberbullying and computer crimes. Cohen, 32, who holds 25 world records and has more than a million followers on Instagram, faces allegations including cybersexual harassment, vandalism and resisting arrest without violence.
According to the arrest report, the problems began in March 2022. Cohen, a native of Venezuela, managed to access a computer that belonged to her ex-boyfriend, which had been left in the house where they both used to live together. Using common passwords, Cohen was able to access her ex-boyfriend's Apple iCloud account, where she found nude photos of the man's current girlfriend.
Upon discovery, Cohen not only saved the images, but proceeded to distribute them in several group chats in which the victim participated, according to the report. The affected woman claimed that Cohen sent the photos with the explicit intention of "exposing and humiliating her." The unauthorized distribution of these images constitutes a clear violation of privacy and consent, according to the complaint filed.
Cohen's arrest took place in Coconut Grove. When officers approached the scene to inform him of his arrest, Cohen initially refused to cooperate and began resisting. Officers eventually managed to take her into custody, but, according to the police report, while she was handcuffed, Cohen attempted to knock one of the officers over with her leg. Once inside the patrol car, he used his toes to break the vehicle's door locking system, adding one more charge to his list of infractions.
Following her arrest, Cohen was released Wednesday night after posting $3,300 bail. Additionally, his Instagram profile, previously public, was changed to private. The judge also issued an order prohibiting Cohen from approaching his alleged victim, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations.
