In a recent interview about his recent film “Encanto” and its chart-topping song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” Lin-Manuel Miranda recently opened up about his decision to decline to host the 94th annual Academy Awards.
According to the 42-year-old actor, he is not interested in hosting the event and does not feel comfortable accepting the responsibility.
“I have said no in the past. I really don‘t think that that’s my skill set,” Miranda said. “It‘s not something I’m comfortable doing, hosting, mainly because I‘ve been lucky enough to work with incredible hosts.”
In the past, Miranda has collaborated with Neil Patrick Harris by writing his “opening numbers and closing numbers for the Tonys. That is a whole other thing. I actually don't think - that's not something I feel confident in."
"I'm happy to write for the host, but I don't know that... I wouldn't feel comfortable hosting," he added.
The 9th annual Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 27, at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater. The Oscars have not had a host since 2018. The event’s host for 2022 has not been announced yet.
