The FBI searched a landfill in Jersey City, New Jersey, where Teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa could possibly be buried. The dig could find the remains of one of America’s most powerful labor leaders, who disappeared in Detroit on July 30, 1975.
The investigation took place in area close to a former mob-connected dump where it is claimed that Hoffa was buried after he vanished. The dump, commonly known as “Moscato’s Dump,” was owned by a Genovese crime family member Phil “Brother” Moscato and Paul Cappola Sr.
Cappola’s son, Frank Cappola, told Fox News that his father was ordered to bury Hoffa in a metal drum that was placed 12 feet underground and piled with more drums, dirt and debris.
"I would bet my life on it that he is still there," Frank Cappola told Fox Nation. "This is going to lead up to finding him."
The revelation about the location of Hoffa’s body was first reported on the Fox Nation series “Riddle: The Search for James R. Hoffa.”
After Hoffa was killed in Detroit, his body was shipped in a 55-gallon drum and probably buried at Moscato’s dump, said Ralph Picard, a member of the Genovese family Capo Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano’s gang.
In March 2020, Fox Nation conducted an underground survey using ultra-high-frequency electromagnetic waves that detect buried metal. The survey found several large pieces of barrel-shaped metal at the location Coppola pointed out.
On October 25 and 26 of this year, the FBI arrived at the site with warrants to conduct a survey. The FBI did not comment on the investigation but did confirm that agents examined the location.
“On October 25th & 26th, FBI personnel from the Newark and Detroit field offices completed the survey and that data is currently being analyzed,” said Special Agent Mara Schneider. “Because the affidavit in support of the search warrant was sealed by the court, we are unable to provide any additional information.”
Hoffa was a powerful union leader in charge of the Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was frequently accused of being associated with the mafia and organized crime. Hoffa’s death is thought to have been caused by the American mafia.
There have been several searches for Hoffa’s body since his disappearance, but none have been successful.
