senior prank at a high school in North Texas went too far and turned into vandalism, forcing the school to cancel the remainder of classes for the year and causing thousands of dollars in damages.

For one of their last memories in school, a small group of senior students at Frisco’s Memorial High School planned to paste Post-it notes all over the building’s walls.

The prank had been approved by the school officials and staff was there to monitor the students. However, the situation quickly got out of control, prompting the school staff to call the police and fire department.

Videos shared on social media show the school in complete chaos, white fog clouds from the extinguishers everywhere, and students vandalizing the cafeteria. Students set off fire alarms and overturned school furniture.

No one was injured.

“Damage is estimated in the thousands of dollars and includes paint on the walls, destruction of furniture, discharged fire extinguishers throughout campus, and more,” school administrators said in a letter.

“These two days were going to be our last days to say goodbyes to people we may never see again, say goodbye to our teachers that we care for so much,” senior Abhi Bandi told NBC 5. “It’s the whole class that had it ruined just because of a few kids that decided to vandalize the school.”

The damage left behind by the prank was so extensive that the high school canceled the last classes of the year, on May 19 and 20, to clean up.

“It was another level of embarrassment for me because I was expecting just to go to school the next day and sticky notes be everywhere,” senior Katelynn Mabrey told Fox 4.

School officials claimed that the prank turned into vandalism. They added that they plan to make the senior students who pulled the prank pay for the damages incurred.

“Every surface on the 300,000 sq. ft. campus must be cleaned, including the walls, ceilings, and floors. Frisco ISD will hold the students responsible for costs associated with the clean-up,” administrators said.
