An 8-year-old girl tragically died after being “violently sucked” by a large pipe from a hotel pool in Houston, Texas.

Aliyah Jaico was swimming in a pool at the Doubletree by Hilton Houston Brookhollow that simulated a rapid river, when around 4:50 p.m. she disappeared and lost all contact with her parents.

Minutes later, the little girl was found drowned at the bottom of the pool, inside an internal pipe. Houston police are awaiting autopsy results, but the preliminary cause of death was “drowning and mechanical asphyxiation.”

A lawsuit filed by Aliyah's family Monday lists Unique Crowne Hospitality LLC, DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Brookhollow and Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. as defendants.

The lawsuit alleges that the minor was suddenly swept into an “unsecured 12 to 16-inch open space in the pool's flow system.”

When she initially disappeared, her family began frantically searching for her, according to the lawsuit, which seeks $1 million in wrongful death damages.

“Her poor little body was contorted when she was sucked 20 feet back into this hole and pipe,” the family's attorney, Richard Nava of Nava Law Group, explained at a press conference Tuesday, according to ABC News.

“They had to break cement and cut pipes to get her out ... it was absolutely horrible,” he added.

A spokesperson for Hilton provided a statement to KTRK-TV offering condolences to Aliyah's family and explaining the situation.

“This property is independently owned and operated by a third party,” the text says. “Hilton does not own, manage or control the daily operations of the property and does not employ any of the property’s staff or its third-party operators.”
