Residents of a rural Peruvian village claim to have been attacked by 7-foot-tall aliens, locally known as the Face Peelers, leaving them fearing for their lives as the strange encounters continue.

According to the members of the Ikitu tribe, who live in the rural district of Alto Nanay, northeast of the capital city of Lima, several figures wearing dark-colored hoods have been attacking the villagers every single night for almost a month since July 11

In one reported attack, a 15-year-old girl barely managed to escape from the grips of her alien attackers, said community leader Jairo Reategui Davila. The girl was able to survive but is now recovering in the hospital after the aliens “cut part of her neck.”

Davila said he has come face-to-face with one of the aliens, which he described as having long heads with yellowish eyes and are always wearing a mask.

“We have met almost face to face. His face is hardly visible. I have seen his whole body floating at a height of one meter,” he said, suggesting the alien was hovering above the ground.

In light of the attacks, the Ikitu tribe members began conducting night patrols to protect women and children.

The tribe is also urging Peruvian authorities to aid their struggle by sending in the country’s military. However, access to the village is difficult and requires a 10-hour trip by boat to reach the community from the closest city, Iquitos.

“We need support for our community. The children do not sleep and the mothers stay up all night,' Dávila said. 'They appear to be armored. I shot one of them twice and he wasn't injured, he rose and disappeared.”

Police visited the village after the 15-year-old girl was attacked using a speed boat to quickly travel up the river. They toured the village perimeter but it is unclear if they found any evidence that corroborated the villagers’ claims.

The villagers claim that the aliens might be “Pelacaras” or Face Peelers, which are described by traditional folklore as beings that feast on human faces, fat, and organs.

There are currently around 1,350 people who identify as members of the Ikitu community.
