A New York City homeless man viciously attacked a woman in a Queens subway station after she ignored him on the train, police said on Monday.
The attack took place just after 5 a.m. on September 20 as the victim tried to exit the A train at the Howard Beach stop in Queens without engaging with the man.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Waheed Foster, followed the 33-year-old victim out of the train and attacked her near the subway entrance.
A graphic video of the incident shows Foster throwing the woman against the wall before punching her. The victim eventually falls to the ground, and Foster continues his attack by kicking her.
At one point, another man gets close to try to help the woman but is chased away by Foster.
The video also shows the woman starting to get up from the floor, but the suspect kicks her around five more times in the face before walking away.
“The victim got off the train at the next stop, the subject followed her off the train and proceeded to push, kick and punch her about the body in an unprovoked manner," police said. "A canvass of the area was conducted with positive results. EMS transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition."
Foster has a total of seven prior arrests, including criminal mischief, robbery, and larceny. Two arrests involved him attacking women, including one assault incident during which he stabbed his sister with a screwdriver.
The suspect was also arrested when he was 14 and in high school for beating his 82-year-old grandmother to death in their Brooklyn apartment. He was convicted for the killing and spent an unknown amount of time in prison.
“Really want this guy to go away for a long time,” said the victim, Elizabeth Gomes, who almost lost her eye because of the attack. “Every day I wake up the same time as this attack happened, in fear… It’s just something that keeps replaying itself every time my eyes are closed.”
