South Korean diplomat punched in "unprovoked" NYC attack

The diplomat was walking with a friend when he was randomly attacked by a man on Fifth Avenue and East 35th Street, near Koreatown, at around 8:10 p.m. "The incident was unprovoked," said the police.

A South Korean diplomat has punched in the face in an unprovoked attack in Manhattan on Wednesday evening.

The diplomat was walking with a friend when he was randomly attacked by a man on Fifth Avenue and East 35th Street, near Koreatown, at around 8:10 p.m., according to the New York Police Department. The attacker fled on foot towards Sixth Avenue.

Witnesses said the attacker did not say anything to the victim before hitting him. "The incident was unprovoked," said the police.

The diplomat, 53, was hospitalized with a broken nose.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is still ongoing.
