NYPD: Video depicts man attempting to rape woman walking dog in Brooklyn

With the victim unable to move, the suspect began humping over her clothes as she tried to set herself free

A woman was walking her dog in Brooklyn when a stranger approached her from behind and purportedly attempted to rape her, a video released by the New York Police Department on Sunday shows.

The video shows the suspect ambushing the 30-year-old victim from behind as she was walking her dog near Woodbine St. and Ridgewood Place in Bushwick at around 8:25 a.m. on Saturday.

The man puts the woman in a chokehold and shoves her to the ground. In the struggle, the victim dropped the leash and ran halfway down the block.

With the victim unable to move, the suspect began humping over her clothes as she tried to set herself free.

The woman eventually was able to fight him off. The suspect fled on foot eastbound on Woodbine Street, police said.

The victim suffered face and neck injuries. She later went to Interfaith Medical Center to have them treated.

The police are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect and released images of the man taken by surveillance cameras before and after the attack.

The suspect is thought to be in his 30s, about 5-feet-8 with a dark complexion and hair in dreads with a mustache. He was wearing a baseball hat with a rose design on the front, a black T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers.
