A man from Albany, New York admitted to stabbing his ex-girlfriend more than 54 times in 2021 during his first day of trial on Monday.

Kason Parker, 35, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for killing his former partner, Meghan Kiefer, 27, said Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney. He faces up to 25 years in prison.

In October 2021, before going on a shopping trip with her friends, Kiefer stopped by the home she shared with Parker to grab her credit card from him. When she arrived home, the two got into an argument on the front porch.

As she walked back to her car, where Kiefer’s friends and her one-year-old twins were waiting inside, Parker pulled her away from the car and stabbed her 54 times in the face, neck, and torso.

Kiefer’s friend got out of the car and tried to help her dying friend, but Parker moved to attack her next. She ran away before she was able to return to her vehicle. Parker then got into his own car and fled the scene.

Kiefer’s friend called 911 and identified the suspect. When police arrived, Kiefer was transported to a nearby hospital but died from a cardiac arrest before arriving.

Parker was located on a bus headed to North Carolina and was subsequently arrested.

"This defendant showed no mercy in the brutal and senseless murder of the victim, Meghan Kiefer," Tierney said.

"The defendant chose to plead guilty rather than go to trial once he was confronted in court with the irrefutable evidence in this case put together by the Suffolk County Police Department. This plea will not return Ms. Kiefer to her family, but hopefully, it will provide a small measure of closure for all those that loved her," he added.
