A second video taken a few moments later shows a large pool of blood on the ground.
De Jesus was immediately rushed to the hospital. Despite having his arm badly torn to pieces, he did not allow the doctors to perform an amputation. Soon after, de Jesus, who was diabetic, died of a heart attack.
The gruesome footage of the attack was released by the animal’s owner, allegedly to show that the zoo keeper was at fault. The owner claimed that he paid his employee’s medical bills.
The owner of the animal, who also has a lion and a crocodile, is being investigated by officials. It is unknown whether he had permission from the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources to keep the animals there.
