Former President Donald J. Trump said U.S. prosecutors informed his legal team he is now the target of a federal investigation into his post-2020 election actions.

In a post published on his Truth Social platform Tuesday morning, Trump said Special Counsel Jack Smith dispatched a letter to his legal team saying he may face charges in an investigation that is probing former president’s actions.

Some have suggested Trump’s post-election actions led up to the Jan. 6, 2021 riots on the U.S. Capitol.

The former president said he had been given “a very short 4 days to report to the Grand Jury which almost always means an Arrest and Indictment.”

The target letter is a new chapter in Trump’s ongoing legal saga as he faces another federal prosecution related to his retaining classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
