A Puerto Rican court “archived” a July 2, 20222 restraining order issued against Latin pop-star Ricky Martin, closing the case, a judicial spokesperson said Thursday.

The case brought significant unwanted media attention to the Puerto Rican superstar who emphatically denied he did anything inappropriate or unlawful.

One of Martin’s family members told reporters after the Thursday court hearing he was a “victim of lies.”

“I’ve been working onstage in the public eye for almost four decades,” Martin said on a video distributed by his representatives. “And I’ve never, ever had to deal with anything as painful as what I’ve been through in the last two weeks.”

The order was granted last year under Puerto Rico’s domestic violence law after the longtime pop singer's 21-year old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, alleged Martin engaged in an incestuous relationship with him.

One year later however, Sanchez decided to dismiss the matter.

“The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter,” said the pop-star's attorney, Los Angeles celebrity lawyer Marty Singer.

ADN America previously reported last year that Sanchez accused Martin of an inappropriate relationship after Martin purportedly spent time at this residence.

“Ricky Martin has, of course, never been, and would never be, involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” Singer said in July.

“We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs, but, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”

In September, Martin struck back and filed a $20 million lawsuit against Sanchez, alleging he was defaming him and disrupting his life.

Days later, Sanchez alleged the two had engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship and filed a sexual assault complaint against the singer with Puerto Rican authorities.

"Dennis Sánchez also claimed they had a romantic relationship, which lasted approximately seven months. It was also said that Martin’s husband Jwan Yosef had asked for a divorce and custody of their children," reported Mundo Now at the time.

“The Sexual Affairs Division of the Puerto Rico Police has opened an investigation right now based on the evidence we have presented, and everything that has happened since I was 12 years old,” Sanchez explained in the interview with ¡Siéntese Quien Pueda!

Meanwhile, things only got worse for the pop singer as Sanchez then reported his uncle to the island’s police force.

But that is all behind him now.

In a recent video released by the Latin pop star, he professed his innocent and said he was deeply hurt by the allegations. Still, he said he cared about his nephew’s feelings and only wants the best for him.

“I was victim of a lie,” he said. “Unfortunately, the attack came from a family member … I only wish him the best, for him to find the light.”

He then added, “A lie can cause so much harm. It harmed me, my husband, my kids, my parents, my family. I couldn't defend myself because there was a legal process I had to follow where I had to be silent until I'd be able to speak to a judge.

“Today was the day. Now, it's time for me to heal. I'm very hurt. I will find peace, the necessary silence to see the light again at the end of the tunnel, like I've always been able to."

Martin’s family stood by him throughout the ordeal. His brother, Eric Martin defended him on Facebook and said the accuser has had mental health issues.

The Latin pop sensation is best known for hits like "Livin' La Vida Loca," "She Bangs" and "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely."
