Cuban actor and comedian Alexis Valdés has finally premiered in his first English-language series in the United States, "White House Plumbers."
The series, which stars Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux, had its premiere in New York this Monday and will be available on the HBO streaming platform starting May 1.
The actor shared moments from the red carpet of the premiere with his wife Claudia Valdés and his eldest daughter America on his Instagram account.
The production revisits one of the nation's most sensational modern political scandals in the United States: the Watergate case.
According to Deadline, the series tells the story of how Nixon's own spoilers and Watergate masterminds, E. Howard Hunt (Woody Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), inadvertently placed the presidency they were trying to protect at risk.
In the much anticipated film, Valdés gives life to Felipe de Diego, a Cuban-American real estate broker and navigator who participated in the Plumbers, the special team assembled by Nixon's operatives to tighten leaks that were coming out of the U.S. government.
The group was led by Nixon aide Gordon G. Liddy who led the effort to find out which U.S. officials were leaking national security secrets such as the Pentagon Papers. The Pentagon Papers, often hailed as one of the most damaging leaks in U.S. national security history were leaked to the New York Times in 1971 by former CIA analyst and anti-war sympathizer Daniel Ellsberg
The upcoming film is the first time Valdés played in a significant production in English.
The Cuban actor has to his credit films such as "The Century of Enlightenment," "Moscow's Gold," "A King in Havana" and "A Reckoning."
