The Merced Police Department, in California, reported the death of a 10-year-old Hispanic boy, after being taken to the hospital on April 13 in critical condition due to an altercation with another minor in a gaming establishment.

Anthony Durán passed away from injuries sustained at the Rockin' Jump arcade, caused by a physical altercation with another child during a basketball game.

The boy collapsed during the incident and was taken to a hospital, where he received treatment. The second child involved fled the scene.

Merced police continue to investigate what happened and investigators are reviewing evidence from the establishment's security video. Detectives interviewed 35 people who were present at the time of the altercation.

The parents of the second child were located and are collaborating with the investigation, authorities said. The Prosecutor's Office has not reported whether the incident could end in criminal charges.

During a vigil to remember Anthony, her mother confirmed that she had decided to donate her son's organs.
