A viral video shows the exact moment a construction crane collapses on top of an occupied car driving in The Bronx on Tuesday. Miraculously, the driver was only left with a few minor injuries, according to the police and fire officials.
The crane was next to a construction site on Bedford Park Boulevard near Villa Avenue in Jerome Park. At around 10:40 a.m. the lifting arm suddenly came smashing down onto the front part of a car on the street, according to the New York Fire Department (FDNY).
Multiple people rush over to help the victim of the freak accident.

"It sounded like the World Trade Center," witness Ticey Williams said. "I was standing there, and all of the sudden, I was looking up, and I saw the beam pop, and it was coming down, it was like a movie. I was like, there's no way this could be happening. So then when I heard the crash from the wall where it hit, and then the car, bam, I just knew someone was dead. But thank God the lady was alright. We snatched the door open and got her out."
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 22-year-old Danielle Cruz. She suffered a hand injury and a cut to her lip. She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she remains in stable condition.
Cruz described the incident as “happening slow and fast at the same time.”
According to FDNY, a second person injured in the incident was taken to the same hospital. However, no further details are known about his identity or condition.

The crane was operating on a construction site that is working on an 11-story residential building project. The site’s 29 workers were evacuated out of precaution.
The city’s Department of Buildings arrived at the scene to conduct an evaluation of the construction site. The agency determined that the crane was lifting a load of rebar from a trailer onto the roof of the project when the lifting arm failed and collapsed onto the road.
A complaint filed on Tuesday at the DOB’s website says there might have been “possible unsafe crane operations” at the site.
