A driver was lucky to capture on video a meteorite that fell on Friday and lit up the night sky with a green near the border of Louisiana and Mississippi.

Caleb Carlson was driving along a highway when his dashboard camera captured a unique video of a meteorite falling and emanating a powerful green light.

Louisiana residents, specifically in Lake Charles, Houma, Metairie, and New Orleans, also witnessed the spectacular event, according to the American Meteor Society.

On May 20, security cameras at Cairns Airport, Australia, captured the amazing moment when a meteorite streaked across the sky. Some car and cell phone cameras even recorded the spectacular event.

According to an article by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) on the May event, asteroids are celestial objects that orbit the Sun, but there may be astronomical events that alter their orbit.

La UNAM también explica que el color verde antes del impacto en Australia se produjo por el sobrecalentamiento de los fragmentos de hierro y níquel cuando la roca se rompió antes de tocar el suelo.
