A video that went viral on social media this week shows the moment when a box of fireworks explodes unexpectedly in front of a family celebrating the Fourth of July in front of their home.

In the images obtained by a SimpliSafe security camera, you can see the moment when the family was sitting comfortably in the garden in front of their house while other people were lighting the rockets to start the show.

The first firework suddenly explodes, causing the family to scream in surprise. Subsequently, a fire breaks out in the back of a parked pickup truck, causing the family to flee the scene.

The fire caused a large cloud of smoke while fireworks continued to fly in random directions.

It is unclear if anyone was injured during the incident.

Following the Fourth of July celebrations, hospitals across the country had to deal with fireworks-related accidents, according to Newsweek.

The National Safety Council (NSC) issued a set of rules when starting a fireworks display.

"Summer is synonymous with barbecues, parades, and fireworks. The National Safety Council recommends everyone enjoy fireworks at public displays conducted by professionals and not use fireworks at home. They may be legal, but they are not safe," the report states.

"In addition, fireworks start an average of 18,500 fires each year, including 1,300 structure fires, 300 vehicle fires, and nearly 17,000 other fires," it added.

"Never allow young children to handle fireworks. Older children should use them only under close adult supervision. Never use fireworks while under the influence of drugs or alcohol," the statement continues.
