Netflix has just posted on its social networks a preview of the second season of "The Squid Game," the popular South Korean series that broke rating records in 2021.
"On your mark. Ready. Green light! The Squid Game continues, only on Netflix," says a Facebook post from Netflix, which shows the terrifying doll from the first season lighting up her red eye with the number 2 written on it.
More than 276 thousand people liked or loved this post, and nearly 48 thousand commented, many of them expressing how they can’t wait for the second season of the South Korean series that paralyzed half the world in the summer of 2021.
"I will be hearing the song again everywhere!!” reads one post.
"Many sleepless nights are coming," reads another.
"I hope the same main characters come back," another excited fan says.
"I'm ready to watch all the chapters in one day and then ask for the third season the next day," stated another Facebook user.
"Red light... GREEN LIGHT! Squid Game officially returns for season 2!" Netflix wrote on its official Twitter account, where the company also shared the good news about "The Squid Game."
So far, Netflix has not revealed a possible date for the premiere, although according to Espinof, it could be late 2023 or early 2024.

The filming of the drama has not yet begun; hence the teaser only lasts a few seconds and barely presents the diabolical giant doll from the first season, who will apparently have a male companion, just as evil as she is.
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that both Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae) and the leader of the players (Lee Byung-hun) will be back and also that the mysterious man in a suit who selected players playing ddakji (Gong Yoo) may return.
Dong-hyuk, who is also in charge of the script, said that "The Squid Game" will have a similar format in its second installment and will maintain the same premise of the dangerous game that promises to free the characters from their debts and financial problems.
Netflix global television director Bela Bajaria said that while creator Dong-hyuk only conceived the plot as it is currently on the platform, the company was interested in producing a second season, which is already soon to become a reality.
