NBC News on Friday pulled a bombshell report that claimed Paul Pelosi personally opened the door for police responding to a 911 call last week and walked back toward the “hammer intruder” without acknowledging any emergency, saying it did not meet “reporting standards.”

The Today show segment posted on Friday morning said that officers did not know what the expect at the home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi except that it was a “high priority call,” so they were confused by how Paul Pelosi and his alleged attacker, David DePape, seemed unaware that someone had called 911, citing sources “familiar with what unfolded.”

“They were seemingly unaware they've been called to the home of the Speaker of the House after a knock and announce the front door was opened by Mr. Pelosi,” said the reporter.

“The 82-year-old did not immediately declare an emergency or tried to leave his home, but instead began walking several feet back into the foyer – toward the assailant and away from police. It's unclear if the 82-year-old was already injured, or what his mental state was, say sources according to court documents.”

The clip continued by explaining how Paul Pelosi calmly assured police that nothing was amiss.

“When the officer asked what was going on, Defendant smiled and said everything's good,” said the report. “But instantaneously a struggle ensued as police clearly saw David DePape strike Paul Pelosi in the head with a hammer. After tackling the suspect, officers rushed to Mr. Pelosi who was lying in a pool of blood.”

The report added it was clear Paul Pelosi had been the victim of a brutal attack. The 82-year-old underwent surgery for a fractured skull.

Social media users noticed the report, which differs from court documents filed earlier this week, had been pulled by Friday afternoon.

A disclaimer was added under the segment on the Today show website, stating: “Editor’s note: This piece should not have aired because it did not meet NBC News reporting standards.”
