Kirstie Alley, star of the television series "Cheers" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous," has died at 71 years old.
Alley's children, True and Lillie Parker, announced that the actress died after a brief battle with cancer. In a statement to PEOPLE, True and Lillie confirmed that Alley died on Monday.
"We are saddened to inform you that our amazing, fierce, and loving mother passed away after a battle with cancer, recently discovered," they said in the statement.
"She was surrounded by her closest family and fought so hard, leaving us with the certainty of her endless joy for living and adventures ahead," they continued. "As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more incredible mother and grandmother."
