Sources say Kanye West hired Camille Vasquez, the lawyer of Cuban descent who helped Johnny Depp win his famous defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard.
The 38-year-old Los Angeles attorney and her firm, Brown Rudnick, will oversee all business matters, including contracts and agreements, for the 45-year-old Yeezy CEO, reported TMZ.
West, who legally changed his name to Ye in October 2021, appears to be in dire need of Vasquez's services as many of his partnerships are dropping due to his controversial "White Lives Matter" T-shirts and anti-Semitic comments.
Earlier this month, Adidas announced that its deal with the "Jesus Walks" rapper was "under review" and this week, Balenciaga cut ties with him altogether.
Vasquez gained much notoriety during Depp's trial, in part due to rumors of an affair between her and the 59-year-old "Pirates of the Caribbean" star.
However, the lawyer criticized these accusations, calling them "sexist" and "unethical."
Vasquez also became well respected by the public for her cross-examination of Heard, 36. Her law firm finally recognized that good work by making her partner after the trial.
"We are delighted to welcome Camille to the partnership," said William Baldiga, president and CEO of Brown Rudnick, in a press release in June.
"Historically, we reserved these announcements for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille's performance during the Johnny Depp trial showed the world that she was ready to take the next step now. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our new partner."
Recently, West has been hiring and firing several lawyers. In late September, the father of four hired Melinda Gates' former divorce lawyer Robert Stephan Cohen to represent him in his case against ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
Kardashian, 42, filed for divorce in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage. The former couple was declared legally single this March.
According to TMZ, Vasquez will not be involved in West's divorce case.
