Will Smith's slap in the face of Chris Rock continues to be the talk of the town. And the latest to join the hurricane of memes, jokes, and opinions has been Jim Carrey, during an interview with Gayle King on CBS this morning.

Carrey—a Hollywood veteran—did not only take it out on Smith, but the Oscar audience as well. According to The Truman Show actor, Smith should have been arrested for his aggression. Furthermore, he criticized the gala audience's applause when Smith picked up his statuette for best actor.

"That standing ovation, with the people on their feet, made me sick to my stomach," Carrey notes. "Hollywood is a bunch of cowards, and this seems like the ultimate sign that we're not the cool kids' club anymore."

On the other hand, Carrey understands that Chris Rock did not want to denounce Will Smith "to avoid the headache" of doing so. However, he said that if he had been the victim of the slapping, his reaction would have been very different. "I would have announced my intention to sue Will for $200 million because that video is going to be there forever, and it's going to be ubiquitous."

"That insult is going to go on for a long, long time," insists Jim Carrey. "If you want to, shout from the audience and show your displeasure, or say something on Twitter, but you have no right to get up on stage and hit someone because they said something you don't like.”

"I wish him well, I really do," Carrey continued. "I have nothing against Will Smith. He's done great things. But that was not a good moment. It threw a pall over everybody's shining moment. A lot of people worked very hard to get to that place. And to have their shining moment, to get their award for the really hard work they did, it's no small thing to go through everything you've had to go through when you're nominated for an Oscar. It was such a selfish moment that overshadowed the whole thing."
