Former President Donald Trump kicked off Kid Rock's 2022 tour with a video message before the musician took the stage in Evansville, Indiana.
"Hello, everyone. I love you all. I know you’re having a great time at the Kid Rock concert tonight," Trump said as the audience cheered, as shown on video.
"Quite frankly, he’s amazing. All of you in attendance are truly the backbone of our great country. Hard-working, God-fearing rock-and-roll patriots," the former president continued at the Wednesday concert.
He called Rock "truly one of the greatest entertainers of our time."
The two have played golf together before, and Trump joked that the musician is "not the best golfer by any means, his golf game could use a little work, but a great, great entertainer, and that’s why you’re there."
"Let’s all continue to love one another, fight for our God-given freedoms, and most of all, let’s make America rock again," Trump said as he put on a "Make America Rock Again" hat.
"Have a wonderful time tonight. God bless you and God bless America," he concluded, as Rock took the stage to open with his controversial song "We the People."
The song criticizes President Joe Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the chorus repeats "Let's go, Brandon," a euphemism for "F*** Joe Biden."
The pro-Trump musician made headlines earlier this year after he announced he would not play at venues that had mask mandates or COVID-19 vaccine requirements.
