The star lawyer of Cuban and Colombian descent has been promoted to partner at Brown Rudnick, after her victory
Johnny Depp emerged victorious last week in his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard, taking home $15 million.
The trial not only put his attorney Camille Vasquez on the map, but also gave her the best news for her career.
The law firm Brown Rudnick, Camille's home base, revealed that she was promoted to a partner after her victory in the trial, the firm said in a statement.
According to William Baldiga, president and CEO of Brown Rudnick, her headline-grabbing performance in the courtroom cemented her position at the firm. "We are delighted to welcome Camille as an associate," he said.
"Historically, we reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille's performance during the Johnny Depp trial showed the world that she was ready to take the next step now,” he added. "We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our new partner."
The trial lawyer reacted to the news by stating: "I am delighted that Brown Rudnick has given me his full vote of confidence in joining the partnership.”
"I am proud of the exceptionally talented team I was privileged to lead, which exemplified teamwork and collaboration, and I look forward to continuing to represent Brown Rudnick's culture of excellence," she added.
After the verdict was announced in court, Camille was seen turning to those behind her and mouthing, "Wow." The legal team also had a team hug after the case.
The jury concluded that Amber Heard defamed Johnny in her allegations and claimed that she with "actual malice" with her claims.
Amber's attorney, Elaine Charlson Bredehoft, revealed during an appearance on Today that her client does not intend to pay the $15 million in damages awarded to her ex-husband and "absolutely" will appeal the verdict, adding that she "has excellent grounds for it."
