Brad Pitt joked in a new interview that he is about to retire after more than 30 years in the entertainment industry.

"I consider myself on my last stretch," the actor, 58, said in his August 2022 GQ cover story. "This last half or quarter—what's this portion going to be, and how do I want to design that?"

Pitt, who began acting at the age of 22, has starred in iconic films such as "Fight Club," "Moneyball," "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," and the "Ocean's Eleven" series.

"I'm one of those creatures that speaks through art," he continued. "I just always want to create. If I'm not creating, I'm dying in some way."

While the Oscar winner has not yet quit his job, he has quit something else: cigarettes.

Pitt told the magazine that he decided to quit smoking during the COVID-19 pandemic because he is "at that age where nothing good comes out of it."

The referenced media source is missing and needs to be re-embedded.

"I think joy has been a more recent discovery, later in life," he said. "I was always moving with the currents, one way and the next, drifting. I think I spent years with low-grade depression, and it wasn't until I came to terms with that, trying to embrace all sides of yourself, the beauty and the ugliness, that I was able to catch those moments of joy."

The "Departed" producer currently resides in a home in the Hollywood Hills, California, which he purchased in 1994 in the midst of his rise to stardom.

While he told GQ that he's been "pretty much holed up" in the once "rundown and dilapidated" house, Pitt will soon re-emerge to promote his latest film, "Bullet Train," which hits theaters Aug. 5.

The "Thelma & Louise" star is still in the midst of a tumultuous court battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie.

The "Maleficent" actress, 47, filed for divorce in September 2016 after two years of marriage and 12 years together. They were declared legally unmarried in April 2019, but continue to work out issues, including custody of their children.
