Numerous new holiday movies and TV shows are produced every year, and 2022 is no exception with more than 50 new holiday titles premiering on different platforms.

Here is a list of some festive movies that premiered this year to enjoy at home with the family this Christmas season.

Spirited (now available on Apple TV Plus)

Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell form an odd couple in a reinvention of A Christmas Carol. Ferrell is the Ghost of Christmas Present, but instead of showing Reynolds Scrooge the error of his ways, it is Present who must re-examine his own past, present, and future. The film premiered in theaters on November 11, with limited showings.

A Christmas Story Christmas (now available on HBO Max)

Also known as A Christmas Story 3, this third installment of the series arrives a decade after the previous film in the Parker family franchise. It all began in 1983 with the classic holiday comedy A Christmas Story, which follows Ralphie reminiscing about his family's Christmas. This follow-up, 30 years later and set in the mid-1970s, sees an adult Ralphie return to his old home in Indiana, where his mother convinces him to relive a magical Christmas of yesteryear.

Violent Night (now available in theaters)

Not all Christmas stories are cute, this one has blood in it. This black comedy action flick stars David Harbour as a heroic Santa Claus, who steps in to save the day when a group of mercenaries attack the property of a wealthy family.

Falling for Christmas (now available on Netflix).

Lindsay Lohan's comeback features a nostalgic reprise of her Mean Girls-era rendition of Jingle Bell Rock and a plethora of romantic and Christmas platitudes. The film includes a dilapidated inn, a charming widower, a precocious child, and even a Christmas miracle.

Something from Tiffany's (now available on Amazon Prime Video)

In a crossover between Breakfast at Tiffany's, While You Were Sleeping, and every other made-for-broadcast Christmas movie, Amazon's contribution to the 2022 lineup features another amnesia MacGuffin. Two men accidentally exchange little blue boxes intended for each other's girlfriend, setting off a comedy of errors when the wrong woman receives a marriage proposal.

Others recommended include Christmas With the Campbells (available on AMC Plus), Christmas With You (available on Netflix), Have You Heard of Christmas (available on Showtime), I Believe in Santa (available on Netflix), and Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (also available on Netflix).
