Thanks to her performance as Marilyn Monroe in "Blonde"Ana de Armas is now one of four nominees for Best Dramatic Actress for this year's 80th Golden Globes. The award ceremony will take place on Jan. 10 at its usual venue, the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, and will be hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael.

De Armas, who was nominated for best actress in a comedy or musical in 2020 for her role in the first installment of "Knives Out" will duke it out with Cate Blanchett ("Tár"), Olivia Colman ("Empire of Light"), Viola Davis ("The Woman King") and Michelle Williams ("The Fabelmans").

Actresses Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva were in charge of announcing the nominees for the awards, which are presented annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

The ceremony will once again be aired live on NBC.

This year's award coordiators are reportedly seeking to recover lost prestige from recent controversies about corruption and influence peddling practices. Negative stories about the organization in recent years have prompted some of Hollywood's biggest stars publicly disavow the awards.

The association was haunted for its lack of diversity by not having any black members within its 100 associates, and previous controversies such as alleged in kind bribes in the form of gifts and trips to influence votes.

In this year's ceremony the nominees were voted on by the 96 members and, for the first time, also by 103 international voters.

The new voters come from international organizations related to the film industry, renowned film festivals and journalism professionals representing a total of 62 countries, the organization said in a statement.

Combined with the current membership, the total Golden Globes voting body is composed of 52% female, 51.8% racially and ethnically diverse, with 19.6% Latino, 12.1% Asian, 10.1% black and 10.1% Middle Eastern.
