One person died and at least 19 others were injured after an SUV drove through an Apple store in Hingham, Massachusetts, on Monday, authorities said.

Police received several 911 calls from the Derby Street Shoppes at around 10:45 a.m. at Hingham, about 20 miles south of Boston. When they arrived, police found several people injured inside the apple store after a 2019 Toyota 4Runner crashed through the front glass window.

“A dark-colored SUV appears, went through at a rate of speed undetermined, through a … glass window and struck multiple people,” said District Attorney Tim Cruz.

Hingham Fire Chief Steve Murphy said during a news conference that police found “multiple patients injured out in front of the store and the store, including a few patients that were pinned against the wall by the vehicle.”

Seven fire engines and 14 ambulances arrived at the scene to treat the injured, who have not yet been identified.

At least 17 of the victims were transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Two other victims were transferred to hospitals in Boston.

According to Dr. William Tollefse, who works at South Shore Hospital, the injuries ranged from head trauma to broken limbs. Several patients have life-threatening and limb-threatening injuries, added the hospital’s chief of trauma, Dr. Chistropher Burns.

At least one person died at the scene. The victim was identified as Kevin Bradley, 65, of New Jersey, according to the district attorney’s office.

Police are still investigating the incident.

“Regarding the operator of the motor vehicle, we’re looking into that. Regarding the status of the motor vehicle, we’re looking into that,” Cruz said. The driver of the vehicle has not been taken to the hospital, according to Cruz.

“My understanding is he’s not been taken to the hospital as of yet,” Cruz said. “He is, right now, with police officers.”
