A video that went viral on social media this weekend shows a 9-year-old boy slamming his fist and a whip against the front door of a Black family's home in Kaufman County, Texas.

The security camera at Carissa and Dezerrea Nash's home captured when the minor hits the door with his fist three times, then uses a whip twice and backs away.

Carissa opens the door and says, "Little boy, you better get out of here. If you keep banging on my door like that, I'll call the police. You need to leave. Don't bang on my door. Go away!". The boy turns and walks away.

"Fortunately, I work at home, and she [Dezerrea] didn't answer the door, because I honestly think he thought she was alone," Carissa said in remarks with NBC5.

The incident occurred last week in the city of Forney, east of Dallas. The minor's father, Bryan Thomas Brunson, was arrested for deadly conduct following reckless discharge of a firearm after the victims showed him videos of his son's actions. Police do not believe the discharge of the firearm was intentional.

The Nashes told NBC5 that they wanted the security video to go viral to show that "racism is real."

"We want to get this out there so that people know about it and think, 'hey, this is still real.' You just saw what happened in Buffalo, New York,'" Dezerrea said in reference to the shooting carried out by an 18-year-old at a supermarket in Buffalo.

"This can escalate very quickly. So we want to avoid that and put this story out and let them know that racism is real, and we feel it was definitely racially motivated," he added.

The couple called the police after the child scratched the victim's vehicle. An officer responded and spoke with Brunson about their son's behavior, but no charges were filed against the child.
