Officials and law enforcement that live by and manage the U.S.-Mexico border are furious about a federal judge’s decision to block Title 42, the Trump-era policy that allowed authorities to quickly expel migrants under the pretext of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, said the move to strike down the policy, which the Biden administration had relied on to handle record-breaking migrant crossings, is “disastrous.”

“This will further signal to cartels, human smugglers, & illegal immigrants that the border is wide open - inciting more violence & lawlessness,” he tweeted after the ruling.

Title 42 was put in place by President Donald Trump’s administration in March 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic was starting. According to the policy, officials could rapidly expel migrants without letting them seek asylum to prevent the spread of the virus within the U.S.

On Tuesday, District Court Emmet Sullivan in Washington DC ruled in favor of the ACLU against the White House, who argued Title 42 went too far, and that it would be lifted immediately.

Ronny Jackson, former White House doctor who now represents that state’s 13th Congressional District, called on his followers to pray for Border Patrol.

“Title 42 was just ENDED and a new SURGE of illegals will now head for our southern border,” Jackson said.

"PRAY for our brave Border Patrol agents, it's a SHAME that Biden won't lift a finger to support them. 49 days until we can STOP THE MADNESS in the House Majority!”

But the strongest words came from the Border Patrol’s official union, who blasted the ACLU for bringing that case against the Biden administration and warned the worst was yet to come.

“A federal judge has just ended Title 42 and the Biden Administration has done absolutely nothing to prepare for this outcome,” the National Border Patrol Council posted to its official Twitter. “If you think things are bad now, just wait for the sh!t show that's coming".

They added in another tweet: “This new massive wave of illegal aliens that is going to hit our country is brought to you courtesy of the ACLU. They love to romanticize criminals and vilify law enforcement.”
