A man was split in half after he jumped off of the roof of a five-star hotel in Manhattan on Thursday night, police reported.

The man fell around 750 feet from the top of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel located at 80 Columbus Circle near West 60th Street at around 9:06 p.m., police sources say.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. He appears to have been in his 30s or 40s.

The man, who was found dressed in his pajamas, did not appear to have been a guest at the hotel or living in the building’s residences. However, police believe he took the service elevator to the roof and then jumped off, reported The New York Post.

"He is seen on video walking into the hotel, then takes the elevator to the top, makes his way to the roof, and jumps from the roof,” NYPD spokesman Lt. Thomas Antonetti told People.

Police found the man's dead body laying out on the street surrounded by glass and debris. After the jump, he hit the hotel’s glass awning, which caused his body to split in half, according to sources.

Parts of his body were found in different places. Across the street of the building, construction scaffolding was dripping with blood and one of his arms was found.

There were no other injuries reported and no criminal intent, police said.

"That appears to be the extent of what we know at this time,” Antonetti added Thursday.

“I am still shocked,” said Louisa Gassab, who is staying at the hotel and visiting from Paris, France, according to New York Post.

“He was on the ground covered up in a sheet. I saw a part of him on the ground, I don’t know what. When I woke up this morning, I asked the hotel staff what happened but they wouldn’t give me any information."

The Mandarin Hotel lies on the top 19 floors of the 55-story Deutsche Bank Center tower. A standard room at the five-story hotel can cost $1,195 or more a night.

Many celebrities, including Jay-Z, Cynthia Nixon, and Gisele Bundchen, have owned residences in the building.
