A man sleeping under a parked pick-up truck outside of a Queens cemetery was killed when the vehicle’s owner returned and started driving without knowing he was underneath, police reported.

The man was sleeping under the parked 2008 Ford F3250 at Maurice Avenue and 53rd street in Maspeth, close to Mount Zion Cemetery.

The car’s owner, a 42-year-old man, returned just before 7 p.m., hopped into his car and turned the engine on. As he started driving the truck he felt a large bump, authorities said.

He stepped out of the truck to see what he had hit, finding that he had run over a man.

EMS responded to the incident. The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center but was pronounced dead half an hour after he was run over.

The driver remained at the scene. No charges have been filed as of Wednesday evening since he was unaware that someone was sleeping under the vehicle.

The victim has not yet been identified because he did not have identification on him. However, he was described as a man in his 30s.
