A clueless tourist sparked outrage on Monday after climbing the steps of a protected Mayan pyramid in Mexico to record a dance, leading an angry mob to boo and pour water on her.

Ignoring the signs set up near the pyramids, 29-year-old Mexican national Abigail Villalobos climbed the Mayan Temple of Kukulcan in Chichen Itza, which has been named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World by UNESCO.

After climbing the temple’s 365 steps and reaching the top, the blond woman wearing red tights and a blue T-shirt starts dancing.

Her actions drew a large crowd to the base of the pyramid, who started booing at her and even insulting her as she continued her antics.

The incident was captured in a TikTok video that has since gone viral. In the video, the crowd can be heard chanting “jail, jail, jail,” and “lock her up” in Spanish, along with several other insults.

Villalobos was met at the base of the pyramid by the angry crowd and officials from the Mexican Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

Additional videos of the incident circulating on social media show the crowd throwing water at Villalobos as officials escort her. Some onlookers even appear to pull on her hair and knock her hat off.

Authorities said that Villalobos attempted to pass as a Spanish citizen after she was arrested, but was ultimately determined to be from Mexico. She was detained for about 30 minutes at the Tinum police station and given a fine of $260, according to the Mexican news outlet Golfo Pacifico.
