Local authorities were quickly alerted, and members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sprang into action. Described as "reckless" by the West Palm Beach Police Department on social media, the caiman was finally captured around 7 p.m. after blocking northbound lanes for some time near the 4300 block of Australian Avenue, close to a canal and a lake where it apparently emerged from.

This latest sighting adds to the growing trend of caimans being spotted in southern Florida, raising concerns about wildlife conservation and human safety. Residents and officials alike are urged to remain vigilant in the face of these unexpected encounters with these formidable reptiles.

Authorities are actively working to ensure the safety of both the public and the local wildlife population in West Palm Beach.
