Fisherman Roman Fedortsov was shocked after catching a strange-looking creature in the Norwegian sea, which social media users called a “baby dragon.”

Fedortsov, a Russian-born abyssopelagic wildlife expert, has previously captured many extraordinary creatures and often shares photographs of his encounters on his digital platforms.

Some strange fish caught by Fedortsov include an orange mushroom-shaped creature, an aggressive-looking monkfish, and another doughnut-shaped prey.

Now he has shared his latest find: a small fish with an elongated face and a huge tail, which his followers described as a “baby dragon.”

The description of the photo shared on Instagram with his 646,000 followers read, "Just a quote, 'It's one thing to chase something unnamed, but quite another to find it': GF Lovecraft."

The publication accumulated more than 22,000 likes and almost 400 comments, where most users were baffled by the strange creature.

"It looks a bit like a newborn dragon," one user commented in the post.

"God. The Dragon. Cool! Who is this anyway?" commented another netizen.

Someone else asked, "What is the name of this miracle?"

"It is better to look at these creatures from afar. In fact, the depths of the sea are unknown," reads another comment.

The fish was identified as a chimaera, a cartilaginous fish also known as a "ghost shark."

Other strange creatures

Roman Fedortsov's Telegram description reads, "Welcome aboard. Beautiful photos of seascapes and amazing underwater creatures await you. Thoughts aloud about the sea and more."
