Colombian, singer-songwriter Maluma won the award for Best Latin Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA) during the 28th edition of the awards event, held this year in Budapest.
"This goes to Medellín because Colombia is not Pablo Escobar anymore, now it's 'Maluma, baby' and J Balvin," the Colombian singer declared as he collected his award.
"To be honest I don't have any speech prepared, but I'm going to say: thank you EMA," said Maluma, who also thanked his work team and his mother.
"I feel proud to be Latin. It has been tough, tough to get here, so I want to thank my team, my mom who is watching me. This goes to Medellín Colombia," he added.
Maluma competed in the "Best Latin Artist" category along with Bad Bunny, J. Balvin, Rosalía, Rauw Alejandro and Shakira.
The "Felices los 4" singer received the award from British singer, songwriter and actress Rita Ora.
The gala was held live from Budapest and began with Ed Sheeran's musical show, performing "Overpass Graffiti.”
