A senior engineer for Twitter was secretly recorded describing his left-wing workplace, how its bias is affecting the platform and that many threatened to quit if Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s takeover bid succeeds.

“Twitter does not believe in free speech,” says Siru Murugesan, who is shown in a series of hidden camera clips released Monday evening by undercover journalist group Project Veritas.

Murugesan said that free speech conflicts with the business model of social media networks.

“Twitter wants to censor bullying and harassment and the idea of free speech is that you can bully and harass people,” which he said is “not conducive to a business.”

“Elon [Musk] believes in free speech,” added Murugesan.

The engineer said his workplace was “super left” and “socialist.”

“Some of my colleagues are like super left, left, left, left, left,” Murugesan said, adding they were likely leaving if Musk’s purchase of Twitter goes through.

“Our jobs are at stake — he’s a capitalist, and we weren’t really operating as capitalists, more like very socialist,” Murugesan also said.

“We’re all like Commie as f–k.”

He attributed the ideology to Silicon Valley culture, “like you’re there and you become like this Commie — they call it ‘Commifornia.’”

The senior engineer admitted that they censored the right, not the left, because the right is more likely to tolerate abusive messages. The left will just quit.

“I don’t know [if] the two parties can truly co-exist on one platform,” Murugesan says in the video.

Murugesan is also recorded saying that staffers routinely took time off if they were not “feeling it” – sometimes months.

“I basically went to work like four hours a week last quarter,” he added.

“And it’s just how it works in our company.”
