Twitter has apparently reversed its decision to censor The Epoch Times after a public outcry from users who struggled to connect with the news site from the social media platform.

When trying to reach Epoch from the social media platform, Users received a message that told them that, “The link you are trying to access has been identified by Twitter or our partners as being potentially spammy or unsafe.”

The links were restored on Saturday, according to a report published by the Epoch Times.

Multiple Republican lawmakers raised alarm bells over the development.

In a July 29 tweet, Sen. Rick Scott of Florida said, “Where’s the respect for free speech and freedom of press, Twitter? We all remember your biased censorship of [The New York Post] and how that ended for you,” he wrote.

Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin framed Twitter’s decision to censor the news site “alarming” and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida saidthe platform owed its users an explanation.

“Twitter is censoring @EpochTimes under the guise of 'unsafe' speech. Remember what happened the last time corporate media and big tech tried to censor my investigation on Hunter Biden corruption? The truth always prevails," Johnson wrote on July 29.

“Twitter is blocking all links to the @EpochTimes, including a story about a human trafficking survivor, and labeling them “spammy” and “unsafe.” Twitter must explain itself for this outrageous act of censorship,” Rubio also tweeted on July 29.

Kevin Roberts, President of the conservative Heritage Foundation described the San Francisco based platform's warning as “an outrageous act of censorship.”
