Aaron Rodgers slams California leadership: 'State’s going to s***t'

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers slammed California leadership, saying his home state is "going to s**t."

Rodgers criticized California during a conversation with HBO host Bill Maher on his "Club Random" podcast, set to be released Sunday. 

"State's going to s**t, but I'm hanging on," Rodgers said, according to a preview of the podcast obtained by SFGate.

He mentioned how strict COVID mitigation measures led to the closure of many businesses, including those in his hometown of Chico. 

"I grew up in a small town, very little cases up in Chico, California, but all the small businesses? F***ing gone," Rodgers said.

He went on to express disapproval of a bill that Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom is set to sign that would discipline medical professionals for promoting COVID-19 "disinformation" and "misinformation."

Rodgers poked fun at Gov. Newsom's COVID policies last month during "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast. He said he hopes people realize that "serious errors were made" during the COVID pandemic and that people should "vote Republican" in response.

During Maher's podcast, however, Rodgers made it clear that he disagrees with conservatives over the issue of abortion. 

"I don't believe the government should have any control over what we do with our bodies," Rodgers said. "As much as I might lean more pro-life, I don't want the government to tell me I can't smoke a cigar, I can't have a drink of alcohol, I can't choose my own medical decisions. And if I'm a woman, don't f***ing tell me what to do."
